I’ve chosen one of my high school friends, whom we shall refer by his second name David, to describe me and compare it with what I’d think he’d say.
Expectation: Andros is a stoic and knowledgeable person who you can talk to about anything. He’s a no-nonsense person who mostly minds his own business at the corner of almost every place but he’s more open and free around his closest friends. He knows or at least holds an opinion about various topics on things normal people would probably raise an eyebrow about such as history, aliens, conspiracies, world domination, etc.
Reality: At first glance, he may seem quiet and distant, but once you get to know him, he will be one of those friends who will make your life memorable. He’s one of those guys who will brighten up your day I any way he can. He favors all things positive, meaning he likes to see things in an optimistic point of view, whether it be in academics or in his social life. That’s why in our group of friends, he makes sure that all of us keep smiling, no matter the circumstances.
Reflections: Evidently, he wrote almost the complete opposite of what I expected. Compared to my other friends, it appears he does not see that I have a habit of being a sardonic loner. I am definitely more of a realist and a bit of a pessimist than anything near to an optimist as I prefer to brace for the worst than lie to myself that everything will be fine. And sure, I’ve made people laugh but never in a wholesome way; mostly leaning on topics that go against social norms. Perhaps then, people interpret my actions differently from the other guy (as I’m sure my other friends know I am what I think I am). But if not this, then perhaps David just didn’t want to sound too negative.
